- Wed, 14 Oct – Sat, 17 Oct 14.10. - 17.10.
- Bombas Gens, Valencia
- Part of the festival Volumens 2026
Owen McAteer is an Irish new media artist based in Madrid who crafts compelling interactive experiences at the intersection of technology and art. By leveraging code and rigorous mathematical systems, he generates «living artworks» that manifest as kinetic displays and shifting installations of color and light. His creative practice probes the human connection to the unseen structures surrounding us, mapping our inherent desire to decode them while uncovering the unique beauty buried within the unpredictable. McAteer’s work has gained international recognition, exhibiting at acclaimed global galleries, museums, and public institutions, including Christie’s, Phillips, HOFA, ArtBlocks, Pisa, and CCCC.
For this festival edition, McAteer introduces Monad, an immersive audiovisual light showcase custom-designed for the historic Refugi at Bombas Gens in Valencia. Driven by pure geometry, the installation serves as a metaphorical journey away from the chaotic noise of our daily reality and into the singular logic of the mathematical universe. Audiences are invited to descend through a transitional space where the outside world falls silent, entering lower chambers activated by synchronized lasers, lights, and a tailored soundscape by Chris McAteer, eventually arriving at the Monad’s «Point of Unity»—the very core of geometric singularity from which everything stems.
