ADRIANA LECOUVREUR is a four-act opera composed by Francesco Cilea, based on the theatrical work Adrienne Lecouvreur by Eugène Scribe and Ernest Legouvé. Premiered in 1902 at the Teatro Lirico in Milan, the work presents a story of status conflict between the famous actress Adriana and the invulnerable Princess of Bouillon. The conflict unfolds in the theater, turning the stage into the battlefield where Adriana challenges the established hierarchy, culminating in her death symbolized by the withered violets. The production in Valencia is directed by Vincent Boussard, who interprets the dramaturgy with suggestive set and costume design. The opera features the soprano Ermonela Jaho and the tenor Charles Castronovo, accompanied by Roberto Frontali and Clémentine Margaine in the role of the Princess. The orchestra conductor Maurizio Benini returns to conduct the band.
