The event Geishas in Dialogue, with Lourdes Fernández is an activity of the Dance+Research Congress that will take place at the Espai LaGranja in Burjassot. During the workshop, we will reflect on how to reconstruct, reinterpret and appropriate other dances and their stories, both from the past and from Latin American creators, proposing a direct dialogue with memory and creation. The intention is to recognize the importance of works by independent creators from Latin America, especially from Cuba and Mexico, and to advocate for reconstruction and choreographic appropriation as methodologies to experiment with new ways of moving, thinking about life and inhabiting the history of dance. The workshop will focus on the appropriation of the work Geycha, by the choreographer Yanoski Suárez, titled «My Body is My House or Here is a Geycha», accompanied by a brief introduction to its context.
