Thu, 21 May – Mon, 12 Oct 21.05. - 12.10.

IVAM - Institut Valencià d'Art Modern, Valencia

Cristina de Middel presents Apoteosis Now, an exhibition that explores the relationship between images and society in a context of media saturation. The photographs from the series BLANCO are presented as a reflection on the manipulation of reality, iconography, and the perception of the gaze. The exhibition takes place in a format of Catarata, which describes the cascade of images that overwhelms us and the difficulty of seeing them clearly. The work is set in a world after the end of posthistory, three decades after the era of the yawn failed. The exhibition addresses the danger of the avalanche of images and proposes that they can be tools of liberation.
